I mostly do streaming and digital purchases these days, but with the recent streaming fiascos and censorship on digital versions, the true ownership of physical media is something I do miss. HDR10 currently maxes out at 1,000 nits, while Dolby Vision can handle 4,000 nits. ![]() Dolby Vision HDR supports 12-bit color depth, as opposed to the 10-bit color depth supported by HDR10. Young families always had the Disney DVDs. LG Dolby Vision is a promotional video, in Ultra-HD, for Digital Vision HDR and LG 4K TVs. Most were modests, but you could at least get a feel of people's tastes. Moreover, people homes had dvd collecitons. ![]() Same with Best Buy, which had a huge section. I remember visiting my local Virgin MegaStore (RIP) to see the new releases. No longer being packaged as two episodes per VHS tape. You no longer had to wait for reruns to rewatch your favorite shows. And of course, 5.1 sound being more readily available.īut my favorite aspect was the whole TV on DVD boom. I learned about widescreen via DVDs as well. DVDs had special features, no rewinding, chapter markers. I loved them coming from VHS, which were bulky and degraded over time. ![]() DVDs are still printed today and outsell Bluray lol. The DVD will probably go down as the most successful and widely adopted media format.
